Sort of hiatus is now a proper hiatus! I have internet access but it's not wireless and I'm not hanging around the modem when I could be playing guitar hero. So I'll be back on my Friday night! If anyone needs me for anything I'll still be checking email a few times a day and stuff.

I'm actually allowed to do it this time since I dropped Kei and the answer is no longer "I'M THINKING ABOUT IT" on everyone.

Mikoto:

I feel like Mikoto's been in camp for too long. Mostly because he's only supposed to be a Princess for a year in canon, and he's been in camp for well over 18 months now, and he still has to do it. It just feels wrong to me (not half as wrong as he thinks it is though :D). But I love him, and I love his canonmates and I love having him. He's become more backburnery lately because I have to kind of pick his threads and posts so it doesn't feel like I'm having the same "oh you're a guy?" conversation over and over again, but I do enjoy playing him when I have good threads.

Plans: Finish translating puripuri+ so people can app Kiriya and Tomoe, because that'd really inject life back into him.

Dropping? Not unless Megumi and Kouno are going too.

Kousaka:

There was a time when Kousaka was my primary, but I've somehow lost confidence with him since then. I need to throw him out more to get it back, because I love love love playing him. I've just been feeling a bit shaky with his voice, since I know my image of how inside his head works has changed and crystalised as I've played him, and I wonder if that comes out in my playing of him.

Plans: Get out more, bug the 00 and Macross F casts since I've actually seen those and can properly fanboy them now.

Dropping: Not a chance right now, he's my baby. And Saki-chan would lynch me.

Isabella:

Isabella is an odd one for me. It was only through a series of circumstances that I ended up apping her at all, although I don't regret it in the least. I feel like I'm not doing her justice, not just because I don't know about fashion (since that's relatively easy to fake), but because she's not forming relationships enough. She's a social creature, although she does often hang around in the background in the manga. I feel bad that she doesn't have the same advice-giving role as she does in the manga because she's just not close enough to many people for them to talk to her about their problems. But I think I have her voice and her personality down okay, so the answer is really just to get her out more. Which is the answer with pretty much all of my characters.

Plans: Jump people who she would/does get along with more! Get her some decent friends. Whore for canonmates.

Dropping: If I had to cut down on characters she'd be one of the first to go, but I don't actually want to drop her.

Sui:

As I said in the poll about primaries, I originally intended to drop Sui at the end of summer. She's from a tiny canon, and I feel bad about not being able to fight properly with her, and she doesn't have people dependent on her like every single one of my other characters. And I thought she was kinda one dimensional and a one-joke character and if I played her enough I'd burn out on that. But I wasn't counting on just how much I LOVE playing her. I don't care if she's got less depth than a couple of my others, she's amazing and I adore everything about her and never don't want to play her. She's the only character of mine who I find it easy to make relationships with because she's just so pushy about it, and I just love her a lot.

Plans: More fighting stuff! Find more sparring partners! Get a couple more boyfriends but try and tone down on that a little bit.

Dropping: Yeah I. No. Not for a good long while.

Shizuru:

SHIZURU IS HARD. I apped her knowing she was going to be a backburner because that's what she does! She sits in the background sipping tea while everyone else does all the work. The problem in camp is that she's not established as an authority figure. She doesn't have her minions, but even if she did I wouldn't want to only thread with them. So I've been trying to find a place for her in camp's system, but it's slow going since it's always much more tempting to get someone else out. And I feel bad when I drop threads with her after a short while because she's not really into long conversations unless your name is Natsuki or you've really, really caught her interest or have something important and serious to discuss. I think.

Plans: Throw her at more people until someone sticks! Stop stressing about her being a backburner because I always knew she was going to be a backburner when I apped her.

Dropping: No, but if I absolutely had to choose one she'd probaby be the first to go right now. But I'm not actually going to do that. Not unless Natsuki dropped anyway.

Dexter:

I really, really need to just SUCK IT UP AND PLAY HIM. I know this. I do feel a little better that other people haven't properly introed their counselors yet either, and I am still working on that thread with Deb slowly but surely. Basically the plan is to say that he's been off being a hobo and really, really lying low while he learns to deal with the whole camp thing for the last week or two that he's technically been in camp but hasn't actually been threading. I'm planning on throwing up an IC monologue post in his journal about that, since he doesn't... actually internal monologue thaaaat much when he's talking to people, although he does, yes. And he's not Dexter without his big internal speeches when he's alone. But basically I'm still having OH FUCK I'M PLAYING DEXTER jitters and I'm only making it worse by taking my time, and the only thing that's going to make them go away is to play him, I just. Need to actually do it.

Plans: Like I said, write an internal monologue post for his journal to explain what's been going on in his head for the last little bit, and then actually get him out around camp. I kind of wonder if putting him in a CFUW game would help with forcing me to get him out a lot and write his voice, while not quite having the same pressure as CFUD to get his voice absolutely perfect, but that's a moot point unless someone's running one, and I should have the self-discipline to get him out a lot anyway.

Dropping: Not happening unless I actually try threading with him and fail which I'm not doing I'm just being incredibly slow.

IRC: I'm on IRC almost constantly, and definitely whenever I'm online unless I'm having serious internet problems or homework problems. I'm usually on as either Mikoto or Kousaka, but could be on any of my nicks. Sui as a nick is shared by both Megumi and I, but neither of us use it as a main nick and you can just whois or ask if you're not sure XD My sleeping nick is [haircocoon] as of this.

Alternatives: My gmail is violetsquirrel and I should get emails really fast. I'm soooometimes on gchat but not usually. IRC is basically the best way to get hold of me.

Style: I like PMs! Flashy windows from PMs and namepings make me feel warm and fuzzy.

Threading

Playing frequency: I try and get everyone out at least once a week? More if I have the time, which I should for the moment since I'm mostly done with university assessments for the year \o/

Replying speed: Kousaka, Sui and Mikoto should be pretty fast. Kei and Isabella are slower and I haven't played with Shizuru yet so I don't really know XD I suspect she'll be on the slow end though.

Thread dropping: I do this a lot! Especially with the characters I find harder to play, it's very hard for me to get back into the threading frame of mind with them again once I've stopped for a while. I won't usually drop a thread until I actually leave the computer for whatever reason, unless I'm being postraped or something in which case it's a possibility if I get stuck on a reply.

Thread pickup: I'm happy to do this in theory! I'm just really bad at remembering to do it, and often I'll find a thread days after I last replied to it and go "... oh I guess it's too late now" and won't pick it up. So definitely poke me if you wanna pick something up and I'll see how I go.

Comfort levels: I am not hugely comfortable with fight threads, but I do play Sui so I'm trying to get more used to it. Romance is uh. Five out of six characters are already in love with someone else, but if you're a hot guy Sui will totally hit on you and fall in love with you and make you her boyfriend :D It'll never be serious though. I love crack, Isabella is made for meta, and I do quite like a bit of drama every now and then too.

Threading permission: Jump me jump me jump me~ if I'm out threading then I've almost always got enough attention span for another thread or two. Just be aware that if it's one of my slow characters or a fight with Sui I might be a bit slow replying.

Posting

Frequency: Uhh not more than once a week, it really depends on my schedule and whether I have ideas and all kinds of stuff. I also tend to post during my evenings, which is Australian hour while most of you people are sleeping. Posts during peak times tend to be co-run and a lot rarer.

Spontaneity: Pretty spontaneous!

Postrape: Rape Kousaka, he likes it. The others I might have trouble with.

Time before a post is abandoned: Uhhh usually when I go to bed for evening posts, or when I leave the computer for lunch or dinner or something for other times. I do try not to abandon posts entirely though, so I try to reply to everyone who comments whether they do it while I'm asleep or not.

Posting vs. Threading: I have no intention of ever really posting with Sui, since I don't want to deal with that many threads at once with her. Other than that I tend to comment ninja with the others more than post, but I don't mind posting at all.

Quirks

New canon: Hahaha I can't play from ongoing canons apparently, even when I try (shounen jump can DIAF). I'm EXTREMELY spoilerphobic about things that I have even the vaguest intention to watch/read, but that said if you're threading with Kousaka and I don't know anything about your canon, I might ask you for choice spoilers here and there that he'd know.

AUs: Sex AUs... well... four of my characters aren't going to be having sex with anyone other than ~~Megumi's characters~~ the people they're in love with, Sui would rather beat you up, and I guess that leaves Kei maaaybe although probably not except for very certain people. So while I theoretically don't mind them, that's probably not gonna be an option with my current character set.

Other kinds of AUs are totally awesome by me though!

Mikoto:

I didn't love Mikoto when I decided to app him. I really liked him, and I'd thought he was a really interesting character ever since that episode where you find out he has a girlfriend. And I knew I could play him, and get him in which was the important thing at the time. So I emailed Yuu-chan, and she pointed me to the Day of Revolution, at which point I really did fall in love with him. The fact that he knows she used to be a guy really surprised me, I didn't expect him to be that accepting. I love the fact that even though he is really stubborn and set in his ways and doesn't get things, he can still be this amazing supportive boyfriend okay so he was basically created to be Megumi's perfect boyfriend XD. The humour in Mikoto comes from laughing at his pain, but it's always fascinated me the way it's presented, because if you look at it from Mikoto's point of view it really isn't funny. It means that while I think it's fairly easy for me to be funny with him just by writing how he reacts to things, I don't tend to see those threads as funny unless I come back to them at a later date or someone actually tells me it's funny and I suddenly go "Oh, I guess it is". Which is fine with me, cause I love playing him and his freaking out at things, with or without looking at it from an outside perspective.

I think Mikoto is probably the simplest of the trio to have the appearance of accuracy with in terms of RP. All you have to do is freak out and yell a lot. But I think there's a lot more to him than that, that comes out more when he's in situations with people who don't tease him or worship him. He's definitely got the easiest voice for me though, and I'm really enjoying translating his bits in Puripuri+ because they just confirm things I'd extrapolated.

Kei:

When I first thought of apping into CFUD, Kei was one of the first characters to occur to me. Vampires kind of ping me anyway, but this guy is... not a normal vampire. And I did and still do think that the idea of a vampire teaming up with a street gang is brilliant. I love that he's kind of eternally 20 mentally as well as physically- he can keep up with the gang in the main part while they're all still young but he just doesn't know how to deal with things. It's not just that he'll appear to be the same age. It's the reason he can hang out with them mostly as a peer despite being over a century old, although it's still more complicated than that since he did basically raise Sho, Toshi and Shinji and I love that dynamic too. And of course I love the whole... idea of his canon, how it happened, the fact that it even could happen considering that the four lead actors have three different mother tongues between them, and mostly don't speak each others' languages. Nevermind Gackt basically chasing down Hyde and topping him into being the vampire in the first place.

I sometimes wonder if my voice for Kei is alright (I know I translate it a bit differently to how it is in the subtitles), but I really feel like I have a very strong grasp on him as a character, on what's going on in his head and how he works as a person. And I love taking the songs that make up part of his canon and trying to work out exactly if and how they apply to him, and how that changes things. Which mostly affects how I see his backstory with Luka and his continuing emo about it.

Kousaka:

I adore Kousaka, and I always have ever since I first watched the first Genshiken anime. I think he's hilarious, and I love every single one of his "Kousaka moments", and I just love him a lot. okay. I knew I'd app him the second it occurred to me that I could app him, and you can pry him out of my cold dead fingers. He's just such a joy to play. Kei requires thinking, and Mikoto can be exhausting if he's in full freak-out mode, but Kousaka is just... Kousaka. He just cruises along at his own pace in his own world, and nothing can shake him out of that. One of the things I love most about him is that he's only oblivious in very selective ways. He's actually incredibly perceptive when it comes to knowing how people tick, and analysing situations. He just doesn't see any reason to alter his behaviour in the face of this knowledge. He kind of likes everyone equally, and treats everyone equally, even if he knows they're a crazy murderer or a jesus or whatever (Saki-chan is a bit of an exception to this, but not as much of an exception as she'd like). I love that he's a nikoniko character who isn't masking inner emo or angst or evil behind his ^_^ face, he just really is happy all the time.

I'll admit it now that I lot of my headcanon for how Kousaka's mental processes work I extrapolate and exaggerate from my own. I know I'm oblivious, so I'm obviously not nearly as bad as he is, but it still makes it very easy for me to slip into his head. As far as I know I'm the only Kousaka RPer out there, but I'd be really curious to see someone else's take on him, since I do have very set ways of thinking about how he sees the world and reacts to it (which sometime I might try and essay on more than I have here).

Isabella:

I've been in love with the ParaKiss anime ever since it was first being aired. I loved all the characters, especially Johji *_* but Isabella never stood out to me. When Johji apped I actually sent her a PM telling her I was thinking of apping Miwako. When I eventually read the manga though, suddenly Isabella became my focus. I mean, I'm already pinged by gender issues but I discovered I really loved her as a character as well. Especially her backstory chapter, which is just about the most adorable thing I've ever seen. I love that she lives in this world where she's this fine lady in a mansion with a rose garden and a butler named Sebastian, and is totally in love with a gentleman called George. And she knows he's a horrible person, and loves him anyway. In her world, looking good is the most important thing in the world, and failing to do so is shocking. She walks this line between being kind and caring and the mother figure of the group, and also being totally self-indulgent and determined to live how she wants (a lot of which is probably Johji's influence ♥). I also love her trauma faces, but how quickly she recovers back to perfect composure (speaking of which, I love the contrasts between her and Mikoto too XD).

I'm still not entirely used to her voice, but I think I have a pretty good handle on her character and I'm having so much fun because she really is totally different to my others (of course that's always what I aim for in my apping of people).

So, who are these people?

1) Gackt- I picked a picture that didn't look so much like he usually does on purpose, since so many people know his face. Anyway, this is from just after he started his solo career.
2) Hizaki- AKA the trappiest trap to ever trap. He's a guitarist and used to be in a band called Sulfuric Acid. I believe this is taken from promo shots for his solo work, under the name Hizaki Grace Project.
3) Mana- I am so amused that no one picked him even though I did try and find the least obvious picture I could. He's the trap that people usually refer to when they're talking about the trappiness of Visual Kei musicians (although he does wear pants these days. Sometimes).
4) Miku- This guy is the vocalist of the band Antic Cafe. He's not usually this girly, this was just for a special occasion photoshoot. He's become a lot more girly recently though, possibly because the band's usual crossdresser left.
5) Miyavi- Miyavi is amazing and you should all know and love him. I am not biased at all. He's also the most stunningly beautiful person I've ever seen, but I couldn't use prettier pictures of him because they emphasise his many piercings and tattoos too much. Anyway, he plays guitar like this. And he is adorable and hilarious and writes in amazing English in his blog sometimes.
6) Bou- This is the aforementioned previous member of Ancafe, who was also easily the girliest. I haven't heard about what he's doing since he left, though.
7) Tetsu- Or should I say Tetsuko? Despite the overwhelming lead he had on the others, he is not, in fact, a girl. He's the bassist of L'arc~en~ciel, who you guys might know as the guys who did Ready Steady Go for FMA, or Driver's High for GTO. They're also one of the most popular bands in Japan. This is Tetsu's alter-ego that comes out for his solo work sometimes.
8) Waka- Waka is the vocalist of a band called Danger Gang, who are unusual and interesting because they're an all-girl band. Yes, my friends, this is our actual real girl. Chosen, of course, because she looks just like any visual kei trap. So well done to Chii, Suguru and Hyatt for picking her ♥
9) Hyde- This is Kei's actor, and the singer of L'arc~en~ciel. He doesn't look this girly these days, although he seems to be heading in that direction again ^_^
10) Hizaki- AKA The Secret Special Bonus Question! That no one appears to have gotten, up until Emiri got it earlier tonight. Yep, this is actually the same person as 2), but as he is in the band he's currently in, Versailles. So those of you who couldn't decide between 2 and 10...

I HAVE BEEN A HUGE FLAKE LATELY and I am really incredibly sorry about that. This is partly because I keep changing computers so I lose threads very easily, and partly because JAPAN!!1! and partly because I just suck like that. Anyway, if there is a thread you want to continue with me PLEASE poke me about it because I do really want to play, I just have no attention span. Having said that, I won't be playing for the next couple of days because I have two essays and two tests to do during them. After that it'll be my last few days in Japan, so I probably won't be around much either (I AM PLAYING FOR LOVELESS WEEKEND AND NOT EVEN THE FACT THAT IT'S THE DAY BEFORE I LEAVE CAN STOP ME). But! I will be happy to continue threads from the last week or two even after I get home, if you want. Because I hate being flaky.

WHEN I GET HOME I HAVE TWO MONTHS TO PLAY IN :D except where I'll be trying to play Persona 3, FFXII, FFIX and Psychonauts, and watch about 5 seasons of Buffy in that time as well. But I'll manage!

1. This is from the Day of Revolution \o/ Mikoto and Megumi have been going out for two years, and decide it's probably about time they kissed each other orz. But Megumi won't let Mikoto kiss her, she has to initiate it cause Megumi tops.
2. This is Mikoto speaking the line "I'm going to transform now" from the Cutie Honey themesong. Cause the Princesses have to sing and dance but Mikoto can't sing to save his life so they just give him that line. And he faaails at even that.
3. Megumi comes to see Mikoto at school and he's walking around with her and one of the random guys aroud the school calls him "Princess" 8Db

1. Interrupted in the middle of sucking on some gangmember he just killed. He's got a hood cause it's the middle of the day but it's overcast so apparently he's alright if he covers up or something. IIRC the keywords are from Hyde's vampire song, Made In Heaven \o/

1. Megumi and Mikoto decide that they should kiss, but Megumi isn't having any of this "Mikoto topping" business.
2. Kouno's deciding whether he wants to stay at the school or not and Mikoto confronts him and is like "YOU CAN'T LEAVE ME WITH SHIHOUDANI!!!" and there's this image of him as Cinderella and Yuu as one of the stepsisters and it's beautiful. The keywords were too obvious to resist :(
3. I answered about the keywords above, but the context is they're at a school festival and Mikoto's girlfriend and sister are going to be wandering around and Mikoto doesn't want Shihoudani or Kouno to meet them cause they're in Princess outfits. So of course the other two go off going "we're looking forward to meeting them!"

1. Beach chapter! I don't get to use this one very often (clearly I need to have Kousaka be naked more) but I love it.
2. This one takes a little explaining, but basically, Kousaka thrashes Saki at Puyo Puyo. Saki wants Kousaka to be more interested in having sex with her, in desperation(?) she pulls the bed covers over herself and is like "look, it's puyo puyo cosplay, are you getting excited?" and Kousaka makes that face. And you think he's embarrased for her. And then it shows you his side of things and it's "How could he tell her that it's really just 'puyo'?" Because the game is Puyo Puyo, but the individual thingies are just puyos. O Genshiken.
3. This is my absolute favourite Kousaka moment ever. Possibly my favourite Genshiken moment ever. Love. Saki's just spent a good ten pages or so interrogating Genshiken-minus-Kousaka about whether otakus actually want real girlfriends, and how she likes Kousaka but is there any chance of getting him to stop his anime porn habits and basically the club members say he probably does want a real girlfriend but being an otaku is just part of him she'll have to accept. And then this happens. It's possibly funnier in the anime though cause of the comic timing.

1. Apparently in the future curtains are soundproof. The keywords are from Secret Letters, which is one of Hyde's ballads. I don't really use it that often cause Kei doesn't really have that reflexive reaction that often...
2. Apparently Kei can run around in full sunlight as long as he has a security blankie :D

Okay, I'm mostly settled in Japan, I have access to chan again due to the fact that STELAS IS A WONDERFUL PERSON AND WE SHOULD ALL WORSHIP HIM, so I should be coming off hiatus! I'm not sure how much I can be around, but I'll do my best to stay active orz. I'll probably mostly be on around weekday evenings my time, which kind of sucks for playing with most of you...

Am in Japan! I have wired access to fast internet on my laptop! These are good things. The firewall seems to be blocking my attempts to join IRC. This is a bad thing. Reason For Apping: As anyone who's gotten me onto the subject knows, I am something of a Gackt fan. But in particular, I'm very interested in his whole Moon saga-thing. Reason For Apping: I watched the Genshiken anime when it was first being subbed, and adored Kousaka. Seriously, my enjoyment of individual episodes was nearly directly proportional to how much Kousaka was in them. I have never, ever been so biased towards a certain character before. But it finished a while before I joined CFUD, and I mostly forgot about it. Then I noticed Ogiue pimping the manga, and saying that it was much better than the anime, and I figured if I enjoyed the anime that much, I should reallly read the manga. I eventually did download it, and almost immediately remembered how much I loved Kousaka. It still didn't occur to me to app though, until I saw his first name on the stats page and it was a lightning bolt of "THIS IS FATE I MUST HAVE HIM". His app practically wrote itself about two days before apps opened.

Reason For Apping: Mikoto is one of my favourite characters ever. When I first thought about joining CFUD, she was foremost on my mind as someone I wanted to play. But as you can see from my first two attempts, I just didn't have the apping experience. And she is INCREDIBLY hard to app. Barely talks in canon, no attention span, heavily dependant on someone in her canon, yeah, not exactly made for CFUD's apping style. So I gave up for then and found someone easier. And every other app since then has been a matter of "Do I want this person enough to app them instead of Mikoto?" and every month that I haven't apped is "Have I got time to app Mikoto? Can I think of a way to app Mikoto?" aaaand eventually I did have time! And I figured I probably had enough experience apping and betaing and stuff to figure out SOMETHING that would get in, and with the help of some awesome, incredible betas who I can't thank enough, it worked!
